Impact of AI on science and research

The ISC Centre for Science Futures is currently gathering reports, articles, policies, and other types of published and unpublished documents addressing the impact of artificial intelligence (including chatbots) on science institutions and the organisation of research, in all parts of the world.

We need your help to identify and gather the relevant documents. We are specifically interested in:

  • Documents exploring the impact of AI on national science and research ecosystems and the possible responses and adaptations. Such documents can be published or unpublished plans, reports, and other types of advisory notes by research institutes, ministries, think tanks looking at the impact of AI on national science and research ecosystems produced.

  • Policy documents defining how people in higher education or science institutions should use AI technologies. Such documents may take the form of public statements or directives and other types of internal documents by higher education or science institutions outlining how professors and researchers should use and refer to AI tools in their teaching and work.

We are particularly interested in documents and information coming from Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Africa. We are gathering documents in any language.

Please note, that we are not looking for papers describing new AI technologies and their use, nor for articles describing how AI is transforming specific fields of research, nor for examples of research done using AI technologies and tools.

You can use the online form below to suggest documents in the form of links or files.

The form also allows you to identify people in ministries or science institutions who are in charge of thinking about the impact of AI on national science and research ecosystems and higher education or science institutions and could be useful sources of information. Please indicate their names and contact details, as  well as the reasons why they should be approached for a discussion.

You will be able to copy/paste links in the form and upload any documents you would like to share. Please continue to press okay to arrive to the page you prefer to use to share the documents. You can also find the form in Word document here.
