Podcast Series: Science Fiction and the Future of Science

The Centre for Science Futures is producing a podcast series on Science Fiction and the Future of Science in partnership with the journal Nature. This six-part series is due to be released weekly from November 3rd to December 8th in the journal’s Working Scientist podcast as part of its Art and Science series. As science fiction has been increasingly valued in its contributions to anticipating future developments, the Centre sat down and talked with six science fiction authors from different parts of the world. The conversations went from their creative process, such as what inspire them to build plausible scenarios of the science futures, to their views on the development of science in the next decades. We discussed the potential impact of science fiction more broadly, including its influence on scientists’ and policymakers’ thinking and decisions. Names of the authors will be announced soon.

The podcast series is hosted by Paul Shrivastava, Professor of Management and Organizations at Penn State University. Paul Shrivastava specialises in the implementation of SDGs and works to integrate the arts, humanities, and social sciences into sustainability sciences. The Centre is also proud to partner with Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination, UC San Diego, on this project.
